Star Wars Sequels Won’t Be Made Into Games

According to Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen, at his recent presentation at the UBS Global Technology Conference, the developer and publishing giant will not be creating video games based on the Star Wars film sequels.

Despite their exclusive ten-year licensing agreement with Disney and the company's plan to stretch the Star Wars franchise over" many different genres across multiple platforms," Electronic Arts will be focusing on other ventures with the series. As transcribed by Seeking Alpha:

We've done movie games over the years and we wanted to make sure that we weren't doing a movie game, i.e., game based on the movie. The beauty of the Star Wars franchise is that it's so broad and so deep, you don't have to do a movie game, you can do a game that's very focused on the world that's been created around Star Wars.

As a reminder, the Star Wars Battlefront series is being rebooted by EA's DICE studio and is slated for 2015. Let's hope that it fairs better than Star Wars The Old Republic.
