Call of Duty: Vanguard brings back controversial V2 Rockets

There might not be a Call of Duty: Vanguard Nuke Killstreak, though Sledgehammer Games’ sequel marks the return of the next best thing. The controversial V2 Rocket is making a comeback following its last appearance in CoD: WWII. Although it doesn’t possess the same match-ending power as a nuclear bomb, the ability kills anyone not below overhead cover.

Is there a Call of Duty: Vanguard Nuke streak?

Call of Duty Vanguard Nuke

Call of Duty: Vanguard features the V2 Rocket, which functions in a similar fashion to the Nuke Killstreak. In the brand-new Champion Hill game mode, players earn cash and can save up to purchase a V2 Rocket.

PlayStation Blog broke the news that V2 Rockets will be available in this month’s CoD: Vanguard alpha. Although not quite as devastating as the Nuke streak, the V2 Rocket is still a controversial weapon. Many players believe that these streaks encourage camping, rather than actively playing objectives at a greater risk of death. Others simply don’t like dying to an automated process that, arguably, takes no player skill to execute.

There’s also a second side to the argument, naturally. Lots of Call of Duty fans believe that earning Nukes is a sign of skill, rewarded with the ultimate payoff. While still incredibly powerful, the effects of a V2 Rocket are lesser by comparison — perhaps making them less fun to deploy.

Whichever camp players fall into, powerful streaks and purchases go hand-in-hand with the series’ competitive multiplayer modes. Since there seemingly isn’t a Call of Duty: Vanguard Nuke streak, hopefully, the V2 Rocket can strike an acceptable compromise. The CoD community should get an answer when the Vanguard PlayStation alpha kicks off this weekend.

In other news, a leaked Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is circulating the internet. Don’t want to have it spoil the movie? Here’s how to avoid spoilers.
