FF7 Remake, FF16 News Anniversary Website

FF7 Remake, FF16 News Could Be Revealed in 35th Anniversary Website

FF7 Remake news could be announced on Square Enix’s new website in honor of Final Fantasy’s 35th anniversary where it could announce new details of Final Fantasy games in the future. A message, front and center, reminds us that the first Final Fantasy title was released on December 18, 1987 and that the website “will be bringing you many exciting new ways to enjoy the worlds of Final Fantasy.” Details on Final Fantasy 16 could also potentially be revealed, though it isn’t explicitly featured on the website.

What is on the Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary site?

Final Fantasy 16 Switch

The most important piece on the website is a special message posted by Yoshinori Kitase, producer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, where he notes how interesting it is that this year will be the anniversary for three different Final Fantasy titles. Final Fantasy 5 will be celebrating its 30th, Final Fantasy 7 its 25th, and Final Fantasy XI its 20th.

“Every year a number of titles celebrate their anniversaries,” Kitase writes, “but if you think about it so many from one series lining up in such a way is pretty unusual. This is only possible because of the long-lasting passionate support for each game in the FF series from fans like you… The FF 35th site will support new releases, sharing info on upcoming titles and merchandise.”

At the time of this writing, the website features two new titles: Chocobo GP which releases tomorrow on March 10, and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, whose demo has actually appeared on PlayStation Network. This is ahead of today’s State of Play broadcast, airing at 2pm PST/5pm EST/10pm GMT, which focuses on upcoming PS4 and PS5 titles from Japanese developers. If there is news about FF7 Remake Part 2 or FF16 in the broadcast, expect the anniversary website to be updated with the latest.

In other news, the PS5 console exclusive Forspoken has been delayed again and a God of War TV series is reportedly in development.
