We Finally Know How Many Parts Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will Be

We finally know how many parts the Final Fantasy 7 remake series will run. Fans have speculated how many entries it would take to finish the remake story, and guesses were all over the place. Some thought it’d be done in two games, and others predicted it’d take ten or more. However, the correct number of games in the series is the amount that was most commonly hypothesized.

Square Enix reveals how many Final Fantasy 7 Remake games there’ll be

The Final Fantasy 7 remake series will consist of three main games:

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake (2020)
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Late 2023 or

    Early 2024)
  • Final Fantasy 7 Re(something) (2026 or 2027?)

Information on how many entries the series will be came as part of the Final Fantasy 7 25th Anniversary Celebration stream straight from Yoshinori Kitase himself. Unfortunately, information about the future of the series was sparse outside of that. The subtitle for the third game is still a mystery. However, it was hinted that the name of the third game is a big clue about how the story will end.

Ironically, most of the guesses I’ve seen concerning how many games would be part of the FF7 remake were three. The original game had three discs, and considering how long these games take to make, a trilogy is a good number to stop at.

Of course, the big question now is how far we’ll go in each entry. In the original game, we made it all the way to the City of the Ancients by the end of the first disc, and Sephiroth had sent Aerith on her way to the Lifestream. With the remake trilogy, we’ve only made it just outside of Midgar.

We’ll learn more about the series as Square Enix ramps up to the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in Winter 2023.

In other news, a Crisis Core remake was announced, and Overwatch 2 Beta sign-up begins today.
