Pokemon Legends Arceus 12 Million

Pokémon Legends: Arceus Sold More Than 12 Million Units in Just 3 Months

Nintendo has released its results for the previous financial year and there were some surprises. Pokemon Legends: Arceus has managed to sell more than 12 million units in just three months. Other successes include Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mario Party Superstars, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD as Nintendo managed to sell more games throughout the last fiscal year than ever before.

Pokemon’s success continues onwards

Pokemon Legends Arceus Sales

Pokemon Legends: Arceus has sold 12.64 million units since its release just over three months ago on January 28. It wasn’t quite the most popular Pokémon title of the year, being beaten by Pokemon Brilliant Diamond / Pokemon Shining Pearl which shifted 14.65 million in just under six months. Meanwhile, Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield sold another 3.18 million copies, the new Pokemon Snap sold 2.4 million, and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! sold 1.25 million units throughout the last 12 months. Altogether the Pokemon franchise managed to sell more than 35 million games last year. With the upcoming release of Pokemon Scarlet / Violet, this is unlikely to slow down anytime soon.

According to their latest earnings report, Nintendo found success with several of its new releases. Kirby and the Forgotten Land managed to sell more than 2.1 million copies in just a single week. Mario Party Superstars sold 6.88 million units, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD sold 3.91 million units altogether. However, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the highest-selling Nintendo Switch game; helped by the release of the new Deluxe Booster Course Pass tracks, the game sold another 9.94 million units last year to reach a grand total of 45.33 million units.

Between Nintendo’s own games and those from other publishers, almost 40 games sold over 1 million copies on the Nintendo Switch throughout the last year. The total number of games sold last year on Switch reached 235.07 million units and this is the highest ever number of games sold on a single Nintendo platform in one year, proving the demand is there even if console shortages are causing issues elsewhere.

In other news, a patch note from the latest Xbox App update on PC seems to confirm Ubisoft+ will be available on PC and Xbox very soon. Elsewhere, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S servers were down for most of the weekend, prompting players to question their online DRM policies.
