rnPlatinum Games agreed to publish several games with Sega and the final piece of software from that partnership is Anarchy Reigns. While the title had roughly six months of Japanese exclusivity, Sega finally released the game earlier this year. Unfortunately, being out so early in January and budget priced, many gamers ignored Anarchy Reigns, despite its campaign, replay value, multiplayer brawling, and wild cast of characters. -
Dragon\'s Dogma: Dark Arisen

Dust 514

rnWhile many gamers played Dust 514 well before release in its beta, it and EVE Online were connected earlier this year and the official release landed in May. CCP’s first online shooter doesn’t feature any direct interaction between MMO players and PlayStation 3 players, but the economies are linked and if you belong to a faction in one, you can carry the banner in the other. -
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
[Review] - Released April 30th, 2013 rn rnLeave it to the wildly diverse developers at Ubisoft to dream up this expansion pack for the island-paradise-of-death in Far Cry 3. While Blood Dragon doesn’t exactly ditch the lunatics, it does create a vivid and imaginative new world for shooter fans all with a VHS-action-movie overlay. The title also stands apart from the original game so you don’t have to have endured Vaas’s brand of insanity to play. In fact, we even awarded Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon with a Game of the Year award for Best Downloadable. -
Guacamelee!

rnDeveloped by Drinkbox Studios in Toronto, CA, Guacamelee gives players melee, platforming, and a Metroid-vania style map layout that encourages exploration and hides tons of extra goodies and gamer in-jokes. The entire game can be played cooperatively too, but the beat-em-up mechanics make for some extreme 2D chaos. Just let the Luchador do the work through grapples and throws, dimension-swapping puzzles and more. The game is also cross-buy enabled on PlayStation platforms. -
Ni No Kuni

rnNi No Kuni’s vibrant world and lovable characters join classic RPG gameplay from Level-5 for an incredibly unique experience you can’t find on any other platform. PlayStation 3 gamers might have been burned by the likes of God of War: Ascension, but look no further than the first game on our list for an incredible game you probably didn’t get to play when it released in the first month of 2013. -

Remember Me

rnDontnod Entertainment’s first game combines a lot of the developer’s background. With team members hailing from the studios behind Batman: Arkham Asylum and other third-person action games, it’s no surprise that Remember Me’s varied combat system is its biggest draw. The futuristic vision of France and the mind-warping narrative don’t hurt the experience either. Maybe there’s a good reason you missed Remember Me, but if you’re bored, this will easily fill your weekend. -
Splinter Cell: Blacklist

rnOriginally introduced in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Spies Vs Mercs and asymmetric multiplayer modes were one of the biggest reasons to pick up Splinter Cell: Blacklist at launch. While the player count currently online in Spies Vs. Mercs mode has certainly dropped, Blacklist also has one of the most complete stealth campaigns ever put to a game disc. You can enjoy numerous single-player and cooperative challenges where the now tried-and-true stealth gameplay has been perfected and modernized for even newcomers to the franchise. Look for a steep discount on this title if you haven’t seen one already. -
The Cave
[Review] - Released January 22nd, 2013 rn rnDouble Fine’s return to Maniac Mansion styled adventure gaming encourages multiple playthroughs and comes rife with humor and wit. Director Ron Gilbert was there in the early adventure game days and brings that experience to the forefront in The Cave. If you’ve missed this game and like thinking through complex problems where only certain characters can solve a puzzle, you’ll find more than enough gameplay in The Cave for the asking price. -
The Wolf Among Us

rnTelltale’s The Walking Dead also debuted a second season this year, but fans of the narrative-driven adventure games from Telltale should look for The Wolf Among Us as it develops over the next few months. You can get the first episode for free on certain downloadable platforms, but be sure to look for discounts on a season pass collecting all episodes in one purchase. Buying now means you can enjoy the entire series as it’s released.
