Hogwarts Legacy Won’t Have a Morality System Like Other RPGs

Hogwarts Legacy won’t have a morality system like other RPGs, though it will still be possible to choose responses in conversations and whether or not to wield the Dark Arts, it has been confirmed.

Developer Avalanche Software has revealed the extent of Hogwarts Legacy’s moral choices, revealing that it won’t have a tracked morality system that you’d see in other RPGs such as Fallout and Mass Effect.

A response in a new official FAQ reads: “Hogwarts Legacy does not have a morality system, but players will encounter various quests and storylines that will influence the witch or wizard they choose to become.”

How Hogwarts Legacy handles morality

When asked to clarify this statement, Avalanche Community Manager Chandler Wood provided more detail regarding moral choices in the game.

“You can define who you are and how you choose to respond and react in many conversations,” Wood tweeted. “Are you nice or a jerk? You can choose to learn and wield the Dark Arts or not. But there is not a formal tracked morality system like those found in some other RPGs.”

From the above comment, it still sounds like players can make major choices such as avoiding the Dark Arts altogether. However, it remains to be seen how much these choices add to the final game.

Hogwarts Legacy pre-orders went live this week, with special bonuses available for those who pre-purchased its Digital Deluxe Edition.
