After the huge success of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lucasfilm are banking on Andor also working its way into the hearts of audiences. Already confirming that a second season will soon be going into production, they revealed at D23 Expo that the series will kick things off with a 3-episode premiere on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. From that point, episodes will be released weekly on Disney Plus. A total of 12 episodes will make up season 1, with season 2 also consisting of 12 episodes. This will conclude the series, leading into the events of Rogue One.
Created by Tony Gilroy, Andor serves as a prequel to the Star Wars spin-off film Rogue One. Taking place five years before the events of that movie, it follows the titular Rebel spy Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna. He’s joined by a flurry of big names in the cast, including Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw.
