Teen Allegedly Killed for Holding Wii Remote

A Euharlee, Georgia police officer shot and killed Christopher Roupe, 17, after she believed that he answered the door with a handgun. However, the family lawyer and witness accounts claim that he was merely holding a Wii remote.

The officer, along with her partner, arrived at roughly 7:35pm at the family's mobile home to execute a probation violation warrant against Christopher's father. WSBTV reports that Neighbor Ken Yates saw the immediate aftermath of the shooting:

This is tragic. She came out of this house. She put her head in her hands and she was sobbing. Supposedly, he opened the door with a BB gun and in my opinion I think he was playing a game with his neighborhood buddies.

In accordance with standard procedure, the officer has been placed on administrative leave.
