Xbox One Gets a Release Date for Japan

Xbox One will be available for purchase in Japan starting September 4th, Microsoft has announced.

Just a few days ago, Microsoft announced that Xbox One had surpassed the 5 million mark in consoles shipped to retailers, which is undoubtedly an impressive figure this early in the game; however, it's hard to ignore the fact that Sony is already ahead by a fair margin.

It's no secret that the Xbox brand has struggled to gain traction in the east, as Xbox 360 sold well below the competition despite having Japanese-developed titles like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. It'll be interesting to see how the console fairs in Japan this fall, as even PlayStation 4 sales figures in the region aren't particularly impressive.
