Sony on Facebook Purchase of Oculus: “I Wish He Bought Ours”

Before acquiring Oculus VR for the sizeable sum of $2 billion, Facebook mastermind Mark Zuckerberg spent some quality time with Sony's PlayStation VR headset, Project Morpheus.

During this year's Games Marketing Summit, PlayStation marketing exec Guy Longworth shared the news, going so far as to joke that he wished the Facebook founder purchased Morpheus instead of Oculus.

"I wish he bought ours. All the folks at Oculus have got big smiles on today," he said in reference to the FTC's approval of Facebook's Oculus purchase.

"If you think about VR," Longworth went on to add, "Not just in terms of gaming, I think wearable technology is a huge trend that's going to continue. I think that being able to have experiences that are truly deep and immersive…that it somehow makes you feel you are there…is something that people want. If you could really deliver that in the future, that would be huge."

Do you think VR headsets are the future of gaming?
