Microsoft is looking to end the great resolution wars once and for all by getting third-party studios to do all they can to get the Xbox One versions of their games to run at 1080p just like their PS4 counterparts.
In the case of the console port of Diablo III, Microsoft told Blizzard flat out that 900p was "unacceptable" and helped the studio get the game running at 1080p.
"We did find it challenging early on to get it to 1080p," Blizzard’s John Hight told Eurogamer. "That's why we made the decision to drop to 900. That's what we demoed and were showing around E3 time. And Microsoft was just like, 'This is unacceptable. You need to figure out a way to get a better resolution.' So we worked with them directly, they gave us a code update to let us get to full 1080p."
The console version of Diablo III, dubbed Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, is out now. You can read our review of Blizzard's title right here.
