Nintendo has confirmed that it will be region-locking its newly announced pair of handhelds.
That's right, folks. You (sadly) won't be able to play 3DS software from other territories on your New 3DS or New 3DS XL. Granted, this isn't something new for the Big N, as the company has traditionally region-locked its hardware. Nevertheless, it still sucks for those in want of the added flexibility.
While the New 3DS and 3DS XL are set to launch next month in Japan, we still have yet to get a release date from Nintendo for other territories. Hopefully it's not too far off. Man, I love those Famicom-inspired face buttons….
