Buy Destiny Digitally on Last-Gen, Get Next-Gen Version Free

If you purchase a copy of Destiny digitally for either Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, you'll be able to upgrade to its next-gen counterpart free of charge, Bungie and Activision have announced.

It's important to note that the upgrade must be made within the same "console family," which means that if you buy the Xbox 360 version of Destiny, you are only eligible for a free upgrade for the Xbox One version. The same goes for PlayStation 3 and PS4.

This is great news for gamers still waiting to jump on board the next-gen train, as they'll be able to enjoy the inferior version of Bungie's upcoming shared-world shooter guilt-free while they scrounge up the cash for either a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Just note that the game must be purchased before January 15th of next year to qualify.

Any last-gen console gamers out there planning on taking advantage of this offer? It's hard to believe we're now less than a week away from the game's September 9th release!
