Square Enix Unveils Cloud Gaming Company Shinra Technologies

Square Enix has announced that it's launching a cloud-based gaming initiative. The company is called Shinra Technologies and aims to deliver a game-streaming experience over the cloud, removing the need for a specific piece of hardware.

Check out the announcement video below for more details.

The company's official website has a neat little bio, which reads as follows:

Shinra Technologies, Inc. is the next evolution of gaming. Harnessing the power of a supercomputer in the cloud, Shinra creates a groundbreaking experience not possible with today's current gaming technology. Shinra is not just what's next. Shinra is the technological breakthrough that will propel the industry forward.

Shinra intends to closely collaborate with cutting-edge game studios to develop new, never-before-seen game experiences, and will become the hub of a high-end cloud community for gamers.

Sounds awfully ambitious. Do you think Square Enix will be able to pull it off? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.
