Tears of the Kingdom Reviews Call It ‘Best Zelda Game Ever’

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reviews are in, and many are calling it the best Zelda game to ever release along with tons of other high praise.

What are the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reviews?

Tears of the Kingdom is the highly anticipated sequel to 2017 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and despite having a high bar to clear, it seems like Nintendo has once again done it. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reviews went live earlier this morning, and most all of them are calling the game another masterpiece, expanding on the stellar first entry that was Breath of the Wild and building it out in massive ways.

At OpenCritic — a review aggregation site for video games — Tears of the Kingdom currently sits at a 97 average critic score, with 100% of critics recommending the game. As of this writing, the game is currently the highest-rated game of all time on OpenCritic’s site, beating out fellow Nintendo games Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the top spot.

Across the board, the game seems to be garnishing perfect scores from nearly every website. Reviews from IGN, Inverse, Gamespot, Nintendo Life, and more have all praised the game, with Vooks calling it “the best Zelda game ever.” Over on Metacritic (another review aggregation site) the game has a critic score average of 96, which would put it in the top 30 all-time on the site’s rankings.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available to pre-order now, and releases on May 12, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch.
