Destiny Launch Month Sales Among the United States’ Top 10 Largest of All Time

Destiny launched last month to much success for Activision, selling boatloads of copies and raking in a whole lot of cash for the publisher. In fact, Bungie's shooter not only saw the biggest launch for a new franchise in the history of the industry, its launch month sales in the US put it in the top 10 largest of all time for the territory.

"We're, of course, ecstatic that Destiny has set sales records," CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg said. "But what we're most excited about is that this is a game that millions of fans can't seem to stop playing. A month after launch, people are still playing Destiny an average of three hours per day, which is phenomenal engagement. Bungie is making weekly updates to the game based on player feedback so there's even more great gameplay to come."

With daily player activity averaging at 3.2 million, calling Destiny a "success" doesn't really accurately capture just how massive this game's launch has been. Are you still regularly playing Bungie's shared-world shooter? Let us know in the comments below.
