Prey 2 Officially Canceled, Bethesda Confirms

Bethesda Softworks has confirmed that the chronically-delayed Prey sequel has officially been canned. That's right, sci-fi FPS fans, Human Head Studio's Bladerunner-esque Prey 2 will apparently never see the light of day. How sad.

Bethesda vice president Pete Hines confirmed the disappointing news with CNET, telling the outlet, "It was game we believed in, but we never felt that it got to where it needed to be – we never saw a path to success if we finished it.

"It wasn't up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it," he added. "It's no longer in development. That wasn't an easy decision, but it's one that won't surprise many folks given that we hadn't been talking about it."

However, that doesn't mean we'll never see the Prey franchise resurface again, as the publisher still believes there's a potential future for the series. "It's a franchise we still believe we can do something with — we just need to see what that something is," Hines concluded.

Would you like to see more Prey titles come out of Bethesda in the future or should the company just let the franchise die?
