Best of 2015 Awards: Best RPG

Winner: Pillars of Eternity

Pillars of Eternity is the epitome of a Kickstarter success. Sometimes, Kickstarter projects are never funded, never realized, or fail to meet the lofty expectations set by fans or the developers themselves in their pitch. But Obsidian Entertainment understands classic RPGs and Pillars of Eternity is the culmination of their passion and care for the genre. This surprisingly deep and challenging dungeon-crawler has a complex plotline and arduous tactical battles that hinge on every decision. Even with the impressive field this year in RPGs, it stands on top as an exemplary representation of the genre and a new IP done right to boot.

Nominees: Xenoblade Chronicles X, Undertale, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
