What Are You Playing? | January 23rd, 2019

Resident Evil 2 is finally out this week, and the GameRevolution team have inevitably been sinking their teeth into it before it officially reaches store shelves. This job certainly has its perks sometimes, and considering we gave it our first (and perhaps last) 5 out of 5 of 2019, our readers should be very excited to finally get their paws on it.

With that being said, the GR team has been playing an awful lot of RE2 this past week, along with some other exciting upcoming games. Let us know what you’ve been playing in the comments section below!

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “Because I am an incredibly selfless, thoughtful (and humble) man, any and all Resident Evil 2 codes we received were passed over to our editors last week, so I haven’t had a chance to play it. (I kid; they’ve been hard at work providing a ton of coverage ahead of the game’s release because they’re wonderful.) In the meantime, I picked up ZeroRanger on Steam. It’s a hard-as-nails shmup that gives me something to yell at between answering emails.”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I’m still plugging away at Resident Evil 2. This game is so enjoyable on so many levels. Even after you’ve beat a scenario the first time and know what’s going to happen, it’s so much fun to just drink up the ambiance and explore. I got my S rank run over the weekend, and it was a blast trying to figure out which path would get me through the quickest. I’m looking forward to starting yet another run on Twitch tomorrow and taking my time and really analyzing the differences between the original and the remake.”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “Despite how bloody terrifying it is proving to be, I’m addicted to Resident Evil 2. It makes every other zombie game — including past Resident Evil titles — look tame by comparison. These are zombies with new cunning ways of sneaking up on you, and man are they scary.”

Bradley Russell, news editor: “The Resident Evil 2 remake, of course! Mostly as an excuse to drop the British slang “Resi” everywhere (just behind “Shigsy” and “Ninty” on my obscure list of favorite British gaming mag nicknames from the mid-00s) but also to soak up everything that Raccoon City is throwing at me. It’s bloody brilliant. I can’t wait for you all to play it when it releases on Friday! ”

Michael Leri, features editor: “In between traveling around playing Mortal Kombat 11, Far Cry New Dawn, Trials Rising, and a super secret game, I’ve been attempting to play the Resident Evil 2 remake in between my relapses of Mortal Kombat X. I’m only an hour in to RE2, but I cannot wait to play more. It’s giving me the Dead Space vibes that I have wanted for far too long.”
