PDP 2014 Showcase: Next-Gen Headsets, Controllers, and Accessories

Performance Designed Products had a lot of exciting new items on display last week at E3 2014. From storage accessories for Disney Infinity, to controllers and next-gen compatible headphones, PDP has a lot to offer a wide range of gamers. Let’s take a look at the most notable upcoming items releasing later this year and in 2015.

Afterglow Next-Generation Headsets

The most impressive Performance Designed Products showed off at E3 2014 last week was the Afterglow Next-Generation headsets, adorned with the Afterglow's signature LED light displays on each ear cup. The style of the headsets is sleek and fierce, and they come fully equipped with 50mm drivers utilizing rare-earth magnets, 20-degree-angled acoustic baffle and an audio frequency response between 20Hz to 20Khz at 115db. The most innovative feature of the Next-Generation headsets is that the base doubles as a stand and charging station. They are also compatible with the Xbox One, PS4, PCs, and various mobile devices.

Located in the middle of the headband are charging connections that lock into the Afterglow's charging stand, allowing you to charge the headphones without having to connect a USB cable to the ear cup, although that is still an option. When they are charging, the LED lights on each earcup will pulsate until they are fully powered; after that, you'll be able to game with them for up to ten hours.  The charging stand is also quite versatile in that you can mount it on a table or a wall. They will also include a retractable microphone that utilizes 2.4gHz wireless communication via Avnera technology.  The Afterglow Next-Generation headsets will be available September 2014, costing $199.95 with the charging stand and $149.95 with the USB transmitter allowing for PC compatibility.

If your console allegiance is specific to the Xbox One or PS4 exclusively, PDP will be releasing headphones specifically for each system in 2015 for $99.95. The Xbox One-exclusive headset will be wired while the PS4-exclusive headset will be wireless and work in conjunction with a miniaturized USB transmitter.

Afterglow Prismatic™ Wired Controller for Xbox One

This wired gaming solution for Xbox One is an exclusive. Along with its superior analog stick design, it boasts just as much style as other Afterglow products. You can set the LEDs to one specific color or have it cycle through colors as you play. The most dramatic function works with rumble events, sending a pulse of red light throughout your controller to make your gaming a more immersive experience. Of course if you prefer to turn off the lights, that is an option too, but where's the fun in that?

EA SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB '15 Wired Xbox One Controller

If you love EA's line of sports games, consider this unique controller. It is built with avid sport gamers in mind, providing SmartTrack analog stick technology; ultra-wide, sport paddle triggers; sport grip-textured handles; and an illuminated EA Sports Football Club Medallion right in the center. The EA Sports Football Club '15 wired controller will launch on September 2014 for $49.99.

Wired Fight Pad for Wii U

Wii U enthusiasts will surely love these controllers especially with the announcement of Super Smash Bros for Wii U. These fightpads are replicas of the GameCube controller, which was most popular amongst Super Smash Bros. fans, and it's nice to see them re-released for the newest nintendo console. I'm sure they will come in handy for a wide range of upcoming and existing games for the Wii/Wii U.

Players will be able to choose from three different iconic fight pad designs: Mario, Princess Peach pink, and Yoshi (white, green). In the North American release, all but the Yoshi fight pad will be able to connect to the Wii-mote controller. The European release will allow for all three versions to be used with the Wii-mote. Each fightpad is available at the low price of $24.99.

Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes Tech Zone Bag

In preparation for the release of Disney Infinity 2.0 (read Mike's E3 preview here), PSP is going to launch some must-have accessories for use with Disney Infinite peripherals in Fall 2014. Having seen the full capability of these products these bags are going to be a god-send to parents looking for a way to keep Disney Infinity accessories from getting lost or damaged.

The Tech Zone bag is by far the most impressive and innovative product in the Marvel Super Heroes accessories line of products, which also includes a Power Disc Capsule, Armor Bag, Power Disc Portfolio, and Play Zone Bag. It is a multi-functional bag that allows you to store and transport your Disney Infinity Base along with additional pockets allowing you to carry a few extra power discs and Disney Infinity figurines.

Since it is fully reversible, the bottom of the bag also doubles as a play stage, allowing you to keep the Disney Infinity game base placed on the bottom of the bag making it easy to re-pack it once you are done playing. It will be available in Fall 2014 for only $19.99.
