Hawkeye Episode 3 Review: ‘The best episode so far’

Hawkeye episode 3 is now available to watch on Disney Plus. The third episode further explores the relationship between a disgruntled Clint Barton and his protege Kate Bishop. Unfortunately, the pair have gotten themselves in a bit of a pickle and they spend the episode trying to undo the mess. This episode starts slow with the introduction of Echo but the action quickly ramps up. Here is my Hawkeye episode 3 review and ending explained.

Hawkeye episode 3 is the best episode so far, combining some emotionally-charged moments with top-tier action from the bow-and-arrow heroes.

The episode starts with Echo’s origin story, which features an exciting nod to “Uncle,” who is hopefully going to turn out to be Kingpin. There are other nods throughout the episode that Kingpin is making a return, hopefully played by Daredevil actor Vincent D’Onofrio.

Clint and Kate are then interrogated by Echo and Kazi. However, they break free and make their escape, but not without Clint losing his hearing aid.

The car chase that follows is the episode’s highlight, with Clint doing the driving and Kate doing the shooting. There’s a hilarious moment where Kate is trying to pick one of Clint’s “trick arrows” but he deems them “too dangerous.” The arrows she ends up using cover the vehicles in a purple slime and emit purple gas.

The car chase culminates in the epic use of an arrow labeled with “PYM.” This arrow makes objects grow massive in size, which ends the chase.

Episode 3 is a well-paced installment with plenty of action but also breaks for some emotional development. The conversation between Clint and his son is particularly poignant.

Hawkeye episode 3 ending explained

At the end of Hawkeye episode 3, Clint and Kate have gone to the Bishop’s home to try and uncover information on Jack and the Tracksuit Mafia. Unfortunately, Jack catches Hawkeye and has him at swordpoint. The episode then cuts to black.

As we’ve seen in the trailers, Kate’s mother is eventually introduced to Hawkeye, so it’s clear that he doesn’t just suddenly die at the hand of Jack. Instead, he and Kate likely talk their way out of the situation.

Clint and Kate do need another lead to follow, however, so they must get some information during their visit to the Bishop home.

Hawkeye Episode 3 Review: The final verdict

hawkeye episode 3 review

Hawkeye episode 3 is jam-packed with action and really highlights the impact that the Ronin has had on the lives of Echo and, presumably, many other families of gangs. He’s clearly made many enemies.

It was also great to see Hawkeye’s “trick arrows” highlighted here, as he is a hero that doesn’t get the spotlight all that often. Clint’s relationship with his family was also great to see, with Kate acting as interpreter.
