Boulies has built a solid reputation around its office and gaming chairs, which have impressed me personally. Now, the company is trying its hand at a premium desk solution. The Boulies MagVida is a sit-stand desk with a focus on convenient cable management and — this is where the name comes from — its use of magnets. Does it deliver a premium enough experience to justify the higher price tag? This is my review.
Get it built
The Boulies MagVida desk arrives in three boxes — the legs, the desktop, and the drawer — all of different shapes and sizes. Once all of the components are unboxed, the build process is super simple, aided by the instructions. The provided YouTube video is especially helpful. By being cautious and double-checking each step to avoid mistakes, I was able to build the MagVida in 25 minutes. I’d recommend getting another person to help with maneuvering the desk around and placing it in its final position.
Feature highlights

Once built, it’s time to explore the key features. As you put your PC, monitor, speakers, and other gaming/office kit on the desk, you’ll quickly appreciate Boulies “EMO” system. The MagVida supports magnetic add-ons, with a long cable tray for hiding wires, a headphone holder, and cable straps all coming included. The magnetic connections are strong and pretty genius.
The provided drawer is small yet functional. I understand Boulies is limited here, as a deeper drawer would interfere with leg space. It’s deep enough for stationery and other thin items, which I’ve found convenient during my daily office work.
Set and forget

With the MagVida plugged in, it’s time to set the height profiles. The control panel allows for three presets, which I set to “Sitting,” “My Standing,” and “Wife’s Standing.” The controls also have a child lock option.
Happily, the desk does have anti-collision detection, meaning that it will stop moving if it detects contact with something. Many years ago I crushed a PC case with a sit-stand desk that didn’t have anti-collision detection, so I greatly appreciate this feature!
High-quality components

When the MagVida is all set up, it does look impressive. I have the white version for review, which I think looks especially clean. Black is available, too.
The quality of components seems great, which helps justify the higher RRP that Boulies is asking for. You expect quality going in and thankfully, Boulies delivers.
In motion, the motors are quiet yet speedy. At its maximum height, there is very little wobble. As a taller user, I sometimes find standing desks to get too wobbly at that tallest setting, so it’s nice to see the MagVida retaining a good amount of stability.
One nitpick
When it comes to downsides, one stands out to me. The lack of a USB port for charging a phone, mouse, or other accessory is something I’m personally disappointed by. Having a USB built into the control panel would have been great, but that’s sadly not the case.

Final Verdict
At $799 — though currently on sale for $699.99 — the Boulies MagVida is undoubtedly a sizable investment. However, for those seeking a healthier lifestyle with their office work, regularly switching between sitting and standing, then that is likely worth the higher cost. At this price, the MagVida is a worthy contender in the space, which has delivered a high-quality experience that is backed by a 5-year warranty.
