New Report Adds Weight to Cheaper Xbox One Coming in 2014 Rumors

The alleged leaks out of Microsoft continue, as yet another "well-respected source" is claiming that a cheaper Xbox One model will be here by year's end.

The latest report comes from VG247, who claims that a "senior publishing source" has confirmed with them that "Microsoft has told trusted publishing partners that it will release a new model Xbox One before the end of the year." In addition, the new version will be priced below the current $499 MSRP, a move clearly in response to better compete with PlayStation 4.

With regards to whether or not the device won't feature a Blu-ray drive, the source couldn't say, but with Microsoft's digital-focused mindset, it wouldn't be too shocking.
