Project Ukulele Revealed as Yooka-Laylee

Project Ukulele, the Banjo-Kazooie spritual successor from Playtonic Games, now has an official name: Yooka-Laylee. The familiar title refers to the protagonists of the game.

According to IGN, players will use the two main characters together to traverse 3D environments a la classic platformers. Yooka the lizard uses his tongue as a grappling hook, while Laylee the bat flies and lets out sonar blasts.

The character designs for Yooka and Laylee are the handiwork of Steve Mayles. Fans of Rare will surely recognize the name, as he's responsible for the designs of Banjo, Kazooie, and the Donkey Kong family of recent years.

Playtonic plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign for Yooka-Laylee tomorrow. The $15 tier includes a copy of the game, but there will be plenty of additional tiers with special items such as art books and soundtracks.

Yooka-Laylee is expected to come out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC.
