Fans Cringe Over Final Fantasy V’s “Enhanced” Graphics on Steam

Final Fantasy fans are displeased with the art style, to put it lightly, of the upcoming port of Final Fantasy V on Steam which releases on September 24. It boasts "enhanced graphics" but is based on the mobile version of the game.

Some of the reactions in a thread entitled "Why'd they messed up the art?" describe the UI as being from RPG Maker (and I can't disagree there) and call this version of FFV to being just a downgrade from the original.

Changing the graphics for a beloved classic will always be controversial, but only if they could have spent the time to enhance the original sprites similar to the enhanced port of FFIV on PSP. Taking a look at some of the other screenshots of the port, it's difficult not to wince as much as they work for HD resolutions.
