Fruit Ninja Movie Is Now a Thing

Well, I suppose you're not going to see this for the plotline?

New Line Cinema, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, now has the film rights to the mobile hit Fruit Ninja by developer Halfbrick Studios. Producer Tripp Vinson has a history of partnering with New Line Cinema with the films Journey to the Center of the Earth and San Andreas.

The script, written by J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, will follow "a team of misfits who are recruited to become Fruit Ninjas in order to save the world." Sounds more suited for a Fruit Ninja RPG, really.

I imagine that this is how it's going to go: Alien fruits of all varieties are falling from the sky, killing innocent civilians with their fruitiness (and gravity), and ninjas are the only ones with the skills to end their nefariously citrus schemes. Does that sound about right? Yes, I'm aware that any amount of thinking about the supposed plot might be considered over-thinking it.

Also, the Fruit Ninja movie will be, of all things, a live-action, family-friendly comedy. So I suppose they'll be replacing any blood with ruby-red grapefruit juice, and have Gordon Ramsay co-star as an angry British tart.
