McDonald’s Is Dishing Out Super Mario Happy Meal Toys Until May 22nd

Few things excite children more than Happy Meal toys (at least, that's how I remember childhood), so combining them with videogames makes for the ultimate must-have. Knowing this, Nintendo appears to have partnered with McDonald's for Super Mario Happy Meals, beginning now and running until May 22nd.

Additionally, the promotion offers up the chance at winning Nintendo Switch consoles via sweepstakes. A portion of Nintendo's official statement is below.

Nintendo fans will want to collect each of the eight toys, which include Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, Invincible Mario, a Red Koopa Shell and 1-Up Mushroom. Each one of the toys has a special function, like a translucent Mario that lights up in different colors.

In addition to the toys, families can take their fun to the next level by entering a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of 100 Nintendo Switch Prize Packs inclusive of a Nintendo Switch system and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game. Eligible customers that scan and purchase a meal at McDonald’s using the McDonald’s mobile app between now and May 22 will be entered. Customers get one entry for redeeming any deal in the app and two entries when they purchase a Happy Meal. No purchase is necessary to enter.

Nintendo has done Happy Meal promos before, also Super Mario-themed, and I definitely recall scoring a Kirby toy from Burger King sometime during my youth. With relatively new IP like Splatoon and now ARMS gaining prominence in Nintendo's lineup, one has to wonder if said IP will also be shown love when it comes to toys and collectibles sometime down the line. Of course, there's always amiibo if all else fails.
