Apparently, Superman for iPhone and iPad Will Be Good

Within an hour of finishing my article on what would make a good Superman game, I have been directed to the new Superman title on iPhone and iPad. I will admit that I don't consider games on iOS platforms to count, but in the case of Superman, any good game will do.

Published by Chillingo and developed by Tiger Games, Superman comes out later this month and features 18 levels of 2D action with the Man of Steel. Players must race against the clock to stop criminals, punch villians out of the sky, and use heat vision and super-breath to protect Metropolis from invaders. Each level pits the superhero against a series of increasingly difficult threats.

Controlling Superman is as simple as directing him on the screen with the player's left hand and then selecting between speed and superpowers with the player's right hand. Depending on the situation, he will either run at hyperspeed on the round, fly in a high-speed blur, blow out a fire, or ram his fist into a baddie. The comic-esque animations have been described as fluid and responsive (but we'll see about that).
