Rumor: Grand Theft Auto 5 Coming This October According To Resume

Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most mysterious titles yet to be released. Despite being an extremely high-profile game, it has managed to keep quiet for years now, and all we've seen is a trailer that's borderline indescriptive. If you were to ask just about anyone when they expect the game to come out, they'd likely say early next year. However, a new piece of evidence suggests that we'll be playing our first major Grand Theft Auto title since 2008 before Halloween this year.

A Character Animator at Rockstar North by the name of Alex O'Dwyer has a curriculum vitae (work experience profile) that not only indicates that he's working on Grand Theft Auto V, but that it has a ship month of October 2012. After looking a bit deeper it appears that he began working at Rockstar North as a character animator this February. This lines up perfectly with the timeline, as typically a development team brings in animators and visual artists to polish the visual layer during the final stages leading to release.

2012 might seem impossible for a title that we've seen next to nothing from, but keep in mind that Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas were all released in the month of October. Publishers, especially one as big as Rockstar Games, aim for releases in October and November to capitalize on holiday sales which look great on their yearly reports. Also, Rockstar have a track record of keeping their lid shut until only months before release, usually to ensure that all momentum is built right around the time of a game's ship date.

On one hand Alex's resume could be inaccurate, but all signs point to Grand Theft Auto V either coming this October, or Rockstar originally planning to release it this October only to have delayed it. Whatever the case, cough this up as a rumor for now, and we'll keep piling on the evidence until Rockstar feels that they're ready to break the ice.
