Destiny 2 Forsaken Legendary Collection Aims to Bring the Game to Beginners

The Destiny 2 Forsaken Legendary Collection was announced today for release alongside the upcoming expansion. It looks like it will contain everything that players need to catch up with everything the game has to offer up to and including Forsaken. While Destiny 2 got off to a decent start, the first two expansions, Curse of Osiris and Warmind, were critically panned. Bungie is betting a lot on the Forsaken expansion, and the Destiny 2 Forsaken Legendary Collection continues the studios’ branding of the new content as a turning point for the game.

As stated on the Activision blog post announcing the product, Destiny 2 Forsaken Legendary Collection contains Destiny 2, and the expansion pass for Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. It’s to be noted that Forsaken isn’t being branded here as “Expansion III,” instead it’s being referred to as “Destiny 2: Forsaken,” which again seems to indicate that the studio wants to set this release apart from the earlier two add-ons to the game.

For those who want to make their stay in the world of Destiny 2 even longer, the Destiny 2 Forsaken Complete Collection has also been announced. In this package, you get everything in the Legendary Collection as well as the Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass. The Annual Pass gets you any Destiny expansions that release between Fall 2018 and Fall 2019. So far this includes the Black Armory (Winter 2018), Joker’s Wild (Spring 2019), and Penumbra (Summer 2019).

Those who pre-order either the Legendary or Complete Collection will get the Cayde’s Exotic Stash bonus. With this, you get a unique exotic weapon ornament for the Ace of Spades, his ship, an exotic emote, and shaders in Cayde’s colors. Pre-ordering also gets you instant access to Destiny 2 and the first two expansions. Both editions will also come with a character boost token that will automatically level characters to the appropriate light level for the content in Forsaken.

The Destiny 2 Forsaken Legendary Collection will retail for $59.99 and will likely become the new default retail version of the game upon the launch of the new expansion. Destiny 2 Forsaken Complete Collection will be priced at $99.99, and again, includes the annual pass. PlayStation Destiny 2 players can also look forward to an exclusive ship, exotic weapon, armor sets, and a strike.
