Resident Evil 2 Remake Claire With Grenade Launcher

Gamescom 2018: Resident Evil 2 Remake Claire Screenshots Revealed

Resident Evil 2 Remake is bringing Claire and Leon back for a retelling of their fateful adventure through Raccoon City. So far, we’ve got to see a good chunk of Leon’s arrival at the RPD, but at Gamescom 2018, we got our first real look at some Claire screenshots.

Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten to see a Claire demo yet, but the screens below give a clue of what she’ll be up to in Resident Evil 2 Remake. We can see a lot has changed in her scenario here, as it looks like she’s encountering both Sherry and Chief Irons in the RPD underground parking garage.

In the original Resident Evil 2, Claire never even gains access to the garage (at least in the canon Claire A scenario), In the remake, it looks like Chief Irons will be up to his weird shenanigans in that area. I was always bummed that Chief Irons didn’t get more screen time in the original RE2, and I’m pumped to see his insane story expanded upon in the remake.

Presumably a bit past the parking garage, Claire will enter an industrial-type area (or perhaps the sewers). We get our first look at William Birkin in these screens, and he is looking real meaty. I’m not sure if this screen is from a cutscene or not, but if you have to fight Birkin in that tight corridor, it’s going to get real hairy fast.

The first meeting between Claire and Sherry also seems to be in a different place. Either Chief Irons’ office has been expanded substantially, or Sherry is found in a separate area that has at least two floors. We also see the return of the venerable grenade launcher, and either the grenades are a lot more potent this time around, or Claire has just shot something that is highly explosive.

Hopefully, we’ll see more Resident Evil 2 Remake coming out of Gamescom. You can get your hands on the full game when it releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on January 25, 2019.
