Amazon Reportedly Releasing Android-Based Console Later This Year

An Android-based gaming console is allegedly in the works over at Amazon, with an expected November 2013 release.

According to Game Informer, inside sources have leaked Amazon's plan to launch an Ouya competitor of sorts later this year. Word has it that it will be available for purchase in time for Black Friday, which is November 29th.

In addition, the current library of Android games available on Amazon's marketplace will be ready to go with the gaming device. As you might expect, sources also say the console will have a unique controller of its own. Let's just hope it is leagues better than the Ouya game pad.

Do you think this is a wise move by Amazon? Is a dedicated Android gaming console really necessary? Let us know in the comments below, and remember, none of this has been confirmed, so we need to treat this all as rumor for the time being.
