Telltale Batman Shadows Edition

Telltale Batman Shadows Edition adds visual upgrade to seasons 1 and 2

The Telltale Batman Series gets a surprise re-release with The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition. The Shadows Edition collects season 1 and 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series and includes a graphical update and a new Shadows Mode that adds a filter to the game that gives it a Sin City-like look.

Batman: The Telltale Series was previously part of a publishing agreement between Athlon Games and Telltale Games after the original studio’s bankruptcy and has been available on various platforms for purchase. However, the graphical touchup and new Shadows Mode come as a surprise, as no announcement was made concerning updates to Telltale’s titles.

The Shadows Edition seems like it might be the first in a line of updates for Telltale’s catalog. LCG Entertainment/Telltale Games Chief Revenue Officer Brian Waddle stated, “This is just the beginning in a much more expansive plan to build on our catalog of Telltale Games titles, which we hope to discuss in further detail in the coming months.” We’re not sure what games will be updated as part of this initiative, but we look forward to having an excuse to play through any Telltale title again.

The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition, which includes seasons 1 and 2 and the Shadows Mode noir DLC is available now on Steam and Xbox One. Shadows Edition will come to PS4 on December 20, and the Switch and Epic Games Store versions will premiere sometime in the near future. The game will retail for $29.99 on all platforms. Additionally, if you already own the Telltale Batman games, you can purchase Shadows Mode separately as stand-alone DLC for $4.99.

Both Telltale Batman seasons 1 and 2 reviewed well at GameRevolution, and was the original Telltale Studios at its best. Fortunately, the studio’s successors seem to see the value in updating and maintaining these games, and The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition is the best way to play these games yet.
