New Mixer Update auto-hosting emotes

New Mixer update works on catching up with Twitch

new Mixer update has added a host of new features to Microsoft’s video streaming service, helping it catch up with its competitors. That said, it’s still a far cry from what Twitch is capable of.

One example noted in the blog post is that emotes have been enhanced to 28 pixels in size across all platforms. That’s certainly an improvement, but it pales in comparison to the 112 pixels supported by Twitch.

Also arriving in the new Mixer update is auto hosting, a feature that debuted on Twitch three and a half years ago. This allows streamers to set an approved list of colleagues on the platforms whose content will be piped through their channel when they go offline; previously, Mixer streamers had to manually activate hosting.

Partners, for their part, will now receive a special badge on their page. This will make it easier to find some of the best channels on the platform with a quick glance.

These are far from the only additions; other improvements include a brand-new homepage, an upgrade to clip creation, and special enhancements for the Xbox One. You can read more about the latest developments in Mixer at the blog post.
