How to run in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

When you’re first starting out in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the easy island living makes for a refreshing change of pace when compared to most other games. Stick with this guide in order to learn how to run in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Increasing your movement speed in the debut Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch game is incredibly simple, but it doesn’t teach you how to do so for some reason. In order to run in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, all that you need to do is hold down the “B” button while moving with the left analog stick.

Knowing how to sprint in New Horizons comes in really handy for getting all of your daily jobs done in time, letting you zip around your island paradise to collect more creatures and resources than otherwise possible. Don’t worry, though, as your increased work rate won’t put other island residents to shame and cause any friction.

It’s worth noting that the sprint button won’t be “B” if you’re playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a single Joy-Con, however. In this case, running is still mapped to the bottom face button in order to avoid any potential confusion; that makes sprint the left directional arrow on a left Joy-Con (now pointing downwards) and the “A” button on a right Joy-Con.
