At the conclusion of the second season of The Boys, it seems as though Ryan kills Stormfront. However, those that paid attention likely noticed that Homelander said she was being held in “an undisclosed location.” So, is Stormfront alive or dead? This is a question we’ll, unfortunately, have to keep asking ourselves, even in The Boys Season 3 on Amazon Prime Video.
Is Stormfront dead or alive in The Boys Season 3?
Shortly into The Boys Season 3, it’s revealed that Stormfront survived Ryan’s attack but that she remains badly injured. Both legs and her right arm are destroyed, her right eye is missing, and her facial skin and scalp are badly scarred. She’s alive but confined to a hospital bed. Homelander still seems to care about her (as much as he can), but she was obviously a shadow of her former self. In the second episode of the season, “The Only Man in the Sky,” she commits suicide by biting her tongue off and bleeding to death.
At least that’s what we’re told. Homelander is notified of her death via a phone call, and all we see of Stormfront after that is a bloodstain in her hospital bed. However, none of Stormfront’s situation in the third season makes any sense. One of her powers is incredible durability. Not only can she sustain a lot of damage, but she also can heal it. Homelander hits her with his laser vision while they’re flirting in the second season, and she almost immediately heals. Why would Ryan’s last blast be any different? Also, this healing ability would likely make it impossible for her to commit suicide by biting her tongue off. Even if her tongue didn’t regrow, the wound would immediately heal.
So, either Stormfront’s powers work inconsistently, or she’s not really dead. She’s had multiple identities in the past, and she’s had a knack for reading the times. The fact that she was outed as a Nazi and that things weren’t going her way probably spurred her to put a plan to disappear into action. So, while Stormfront appears dead as of The Boys Season 3, Episode 2, it’s likely that she’s just gone underground and is biding her time.
