The Edifier G2000 Pro Speakers aim to deliver great audio while looking the part on any keen gamer’s desk. With a transparent shell showcasing the reactive RGB lighting, these speakers want to satisfy in both the audio and visual departments. After using them for music listening, movie watching, and, of course, gaming, it’s time for my review.
Get ready to light it up
Out of the box, the G2000 Pro immediately stands out with its transparent appearance. The speakers are available in black, white, or pink. I opted for white, as they seemed the most transparent from the marketing images. Also, the white goes well with the modern minimalist setup that many of us are now turning to.
While minimalism might be the new trend, RGB is still in demand, so the G2000 Pro’s generous lighting output is certainly welcome. Once powered on and connected to a sound source either via a wire or wirelessly, the lights immediately kick into action. PC users can dive into Edifier’s HECATE app to fine-tune controls, but the buttons on top of the speakers do a great job regardless.
TempoFlow is great

When it comes to the RGB lighting, TempoFlow is worthy of highlighting. This is the speakers’ ability to react to whatever the user is listening to. I was expecting a fairly laggy experience here, but the lighting is actually pretty responsive. It can help boost immersion in certain video games. It worked especially well with Doom: The Dark Ages, where the hellscape was brought further into my office through the RGB speakers. It’s a really cool effect.
Sounds good

Of course, the G2000 Pro needs to sound good, too. Thankfully, each speaker boasts a 3-inch driver which, when combined, are rated for a peak power output of 64W. This is a good amount of power that puts it way up there against the competition. Crank the volume up and these speakers hold their own nicely, without having the usual distortion issues that cheaper solutions often suffer from. Details are nice and clear, too, and though the bass is certainly present, it isn’t overwhelming.
With the aforementioned HECATE app, users can also activate 7.1 virtual surround sound. Personally, I think it just makes the audio sound echoey and less in-your-face, so I disabled it, but others may like the effect.
The downsides

One downside for the G2000 Pro is the drop in quality when moving from wired USB to Bluetooth. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s more significant than I expected. Therefore, I’d recommend anyone buying the G2000 Pro to stick with the USB connection, changing only to Bluetooth when necessary.
The other downside is the sound quality on offer for the price. Clearly, RGB lighting is a big factor for this product and, if that’s what you need, then the G2000 Pro does it well. However, if you can do without RGB, then there are many other better-sounding products available at that $200 price point.

Final Verdict
At $199.99, the Edifier G2000 Pro offers an eye-catching design with notable lighting features and generally strong performance. Its wired connection provides the best results, while wireless use is less impressive. Although it delivers a solid overall experience, alternatives without a focus on RGB may offer better sound for the same cost. With that said, if you’re a lover of RGB and it’s of big importance to you, then this product can deliver.
