Apple’s Foldable iPhone Could Use Samsung’s ‘Creaseless’ Display

Apple’s iPhone Fold is reportedly in the works, and the tech giant might borrow a page from Samsung‘s playbook. The company, planning to establish a strong presence in the foldable market, could use its rival’s “creaseless” screen tech to tap into similar foldable innovations.

Apple’s Foldable iPhone might have Samsung’s screen

Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone might be cooking up something fresh by borrowing tech from its biggest Android rival, Samsung. The tech giant is reportedly exploring ways to minimize the crease that typically appears on foldable screens, a common issue with current phones.

At CES 2026, Samsung unveiled a groundbreaking book-style foldable display for smartphones, distinguished by the absence of a visible crease. This marks a significant upgrade from current foldable devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which witness noticeable creasing.

As the first display of its kind, Samsung’s achievement represents a breakthrough in display technology. Speculation has emerged regarding the methods behind the South Korean tech giant’s achievement. To the delight of tech enthusiasts, the underlying technology has been revealed.

Popular tipster Ice Universe has shared insights on X (formerly Twitter) about Samsung’s crease-less foldable display tech. Apparently, traditional foldable screens concentrate folding stress in one line, causing a visible crease. Meanwhile, Samsung’s solution involves laser-drilled micro perforations that distribute this stress across a wider area, minimizing the crease’s visibility. This makes the crease nearly invisible to the naked eye in most conditions.

However, Samsung’s crease-free foldable display tech mightn’t be exclusive to their devices for long. Swirling rumors suggest that Apple’s first foldable iPhone could sport this screen, alongside Samsung’s own next-generation foldables, like the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

If this partnership comes through, it’ll be a game-changer for Apple fans. This collaboration would mark a major shift in the tech landscape, showcasing two rivals working together to push innovative boundaries. For users, combining Apple’s ecosystem with Samsung’s display prowess would be a win-win situation.
