Apple Overhauls Its Mac Configurator Offering More Choice

Apple is giving users more control over their Mac purchases, letting them pick every detail online instead of settling for prebuilt models. From choosing the color and display to selecting memory, storage, and even the power adapter, the company’s new configuration tool lets you build a fully personalized Mac.

Fans of Apple devices now have the flexibility to craft a Mac that fits their exact needs, making the buying experience more hands-on than ever.

Apple’s online store brings in new Mac updates

Apple’s revamped online store now works a lot like buying an iPhone, walking customers through each step of the process. Buying a new Mac on Apple.com has a fresh look. Instead of picking from preset models, you now customize your machine from scratch. For a MacBook Pro, you can choose display size, color, screen type, chip, RAM, storage, power adapter, keyboard, pro apps, payment plan, and AppleCare.

The specs themselves haven’t changed, like 24GB of RAM with M4 Pro/Max. But the focus is now on building a Mac that fits your budget. Base models are still available in stores, with price and delivery updating live. Users can also preinstall Apple software such as Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro.

Insiders, including Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, point to a possible launch alongside macOS 26.3, expected between February and March. With this new tool, Apple seems to be letting users really build the machine they’ll rely on every day, making the process feel personal and hands-on.

Apple’s latest move aims to put power in users’ hands. From custom iPhones to smarter software, the company has been leaning into experiences that feel personal. Sure, for some, Apple’s pricing and upgrade options can be a headache, but fans love being able to tweak every detail and make a device truly their own. It’s Apple’s way of blending tech with personal style, so every Mac feels like it’s built just for you.

With this update, Apple doubles down on being a brand that combines sleek design with real flexibility. Now, buying a Mac is an interactive journey where you actually shape the final product, picking specs that fit your work, gaming, or daily life. As a result, the Macs won’t just be powerful; they’ll be personal, fun, and more accessible than ever before.
