Fortnite is turning up the volume with a fresh music-focused update. The game recently decided to team up with Laufey for the latest Fortnite Festival Season 14. Evident in their latest trailer, the new collaboration introduces interactive features that further enhance performance-based gameplay.
Fortnite x Laufey collab brings new singalong feature for gamers
Starting April 16, Fortnite Festival Season 14 introduces microphone vocals, allowing players to sing along live using compatible mics on PC and console. The feature builds on the game’s Rock Band-style mechanics and adds a new layer of player participation, turning gameplay into a real-time performance.
Epic Games is also adding a Pro Drums feature. Players can now connect Rock Band 4 or compatible MIDI drum kits, making the drumming experience feel more realistic. Another major update allows players to move freely while performing in the Jam Ring, instead of staying fixed in one spot. The new Quick Mix interface further improves gameplay by letting users instantly swap or shuffle tracks, encouraging seamless mashups during sessions.
Laufey headlines the new season with themed in-game content. The Emberlight Music Pass, included in Fortnite Crew, unlocks the “White Dress” Laufey outfit immediately. As players progress, they can earn themed instruments, performance auras, and her track “Madwoman” as a jam track. The final tier rewards players with the “Golden Era” Laufey outfit.
Additional cosmetics will also be available in the Item Shop. These include the “Lover Girl” outfit, Mei Mei the Bunny back bling, and jam tracks such as “Lover Girl” and “Tough Luck.”
The update also expands Fortnite beyond Festival mode. Save the World becomes free for all players, while the battle royale mode continues its storyline with a new act. The move reflects Epic Games’ ongoing effort to blend music, gaming, and live interaction into one evolving platform.
