Sony Urging Players for PS5 Upgrade Ahead of GTA 6 Release — Report

Sony has reportedly requested fans and avid gamers to upgrade their PlayStation ahead of the GTA 6 release. As new next-gen consoles are released, the old ones will no longer be as effective for gaming. Fans will preserve their old consoles only for nostalgia’s sake. Hence, Sony is urging fans to upgrade to PS5 ahead of GTA 6, expected to release towards the end of the year.

Sony reportedly wants players to quickly upgrade to PS5 in preparation for GTA 6. Multiple fans have revealed that they have received messages from Sony notifying them about the upgrade. They have reportedly stated, “Grand Theft Auto VI is on your wishlist. Get a PlayStation 5 today to be ready for when Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026.”

In certain instances, avid gamers have even received QR codes so they can upgrade their consoles before GTA 6. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans are now certain that GTA 6’s November 19 release is confirmed.

For those unversed, GTA, short for Grand Theft Auto VI, is an upcoming action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. The studio originally planned to release it in May this year, but it was postponed to November 2026. The original post by GTA 6 Countdown garnered 17K likes, 1.4K bookmarks, 1.1K reposts, and 232 comments.

Based on the comments, fans have taken this as a positive sign. One fan commented, “It’s finally happening, guys, we’re soooo close to greatness.” A second fan wrote, “We are definitely getting it this November. No more delays.” A third fan penned, “U can say bye bye to the word ‘delay’ now coz it’s coming out on November 19th, let’s goooooooo.”

A fourth fan remarked, “It’s finally happening, I am so EXCITED THAT I’M JUMPING UP AND DOWN!” Finally, one fan shared, “Listen, it’s 100% confirmed! November always makes sense.”
