Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Claptastic Voyage and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 Preview

The Claptastic Voyage and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 is the final add-on pack for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which picks up after the end of The Pre-Sequel. Handsome Jack has discovered that Tassiter has hidden some files that are essential for him to take over Hyperion inside the place he would least expect: Claptrap. So in order to retrieve the source code with the information he needs, Handsome Jack digitizes the Vault Hunters from the Pre-Sequel and sets them loose inside of Claptrap's mind. I highly recommend playing as Claptrap or at least having a friend join you so he can at least tag along on the journey

Since you are traversing the internal circuitry of a robot, things are going to get a little weird. When you access the parts of Claptrap’s memories related to finding the information, you will also encounter warped versions of enemies and distorted representations of familiar characters. The level designs are also representative of being inside a distorted memory with many set pieces transitioning from settings Claptrap remembers to odd environments that draw inspiration from science-fiction classics like Tron. As you venture through the world, you will have to destroy bad memory clusters in order to reveal the next point of interest and gain access to new memories. Handsome Jack will also be working on hacking the system, periodically resulting in alterations to the levels as you play them.

Every element of this add-on serves as a way to give more insight into Claptrap’s character. One particularly humorous element are the Insecurity bots that patrol Claptrap’s mind. They are as persistent during battle as the flying monsters. You will also have access to a new set of rare weapons called Glitch weapons. These weapons have normal base abilities but since they are the result of corrupted data, they will randomly glitch out every now and again, unleashing a devastating blast of artillery on your foes. For instance, you could find a glitched-out SMG that has the occasional chance to let loose an extremely powerful shotgun blast.

The Claptastic Voyage is definitely a great way to round out the season pass add-on content for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. There’s a great value for fans, as this DLC will complete the gap between The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2 showing you exactly what happened when Handsome Jack began his reign of terror. Along with the expansion players will also get ten extra levels bringing the cap to 70 if you already have the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack: The Holodome Onslaught. It will be included in the Handsome Collection for Xbox One and PS4 and will be a part of the season pass for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. You can also purchase it separately for $9.99 when it releases on March 24, 2015.
