Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia How to Use Mila Statues

Mila statues will appear periodically throughout Shadows of Valentia, and are crucial to your army's development if you want to remain competitive throughout the game (and suffer minimal casualties).

The following is a list of important functions that can be accomplished when visiting Mila statues.

  • Make an offering to heal your army's fatigue
  • Upgrade the class of your units
  • Chat with members of your army
  • Recruit new units to your army
  • View Memory Prisms (via Turnwheel)

Make an Offering

Offering an item from your convoy to Mila will cure your army's fatigue – a much more effective method them having them eat food one by one on the battlefield. Mila isn't picky, as offering up even simple Flour or Wine should do the trick.

Class Promotions (Change Class)

When your units reach a particular level (generally 4, 7, or 12 depending on the base class and number of possible upgrade classes), you'll be notified by the game that they qualify for a class change. When this happens, head to a Mila statue as soon as possible.

In the case of Villagers at level 4, you'll be presented with a substantial variety of upgrades to choose from. Other classes' upgrade paths can often be more specific (especially with second or third upgrades), so you'll want to experiment as you progress.

Chat with your Army

Oftentimes members of your force will be visible in the environment when visiting a Mila statue, waiting to discuss something important or simply chat. These aren't always crucial conversations nor do the count as official support conversations that you'll find on the battlefield, but they can be interesting or useful nonetheless. Completionists who must see everything will want to make sure they keep an eye out for these situations.

Recruit New Units

Sometimes, if story events occur in or around shrines containing Mila statues, recruitable units will appear in the area shortly thereafter. Simply speak with them to add them to your forces. This goes not just for Mila statues, but all locales that can be examined using the game's visual novel style. When you clear maps or liberate ally forces, be sure to check and see if there are newfound friends waiting to join you.

View Memory Prisms

Throughout the game, you'll notice shimmering, sparkling objects in the environment you can collect. These are known as "Memory Prism," and offer insight into the main protagonists' backstories within the game.

To view collected Memory Prisms, select Turnwheel from the menu at a Mila statue, then select the Prism you'd like to view.
