Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an inventory heavy game, so you need to earn money fast to get the items you need to make your party and your Blades more powerful. The more you farm Gold quickly, the more you can buy upgrades and items that open up more options for you. Making money is easier said than done in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and building your stash of Gold will take some work.
We’ve put together some tips on how to earn money quickly in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 by farming your Gold to the maximum potential.
How to Earn Gold in Xenoblade Chronicles 2
If you want to get Gold in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the best way is to fight and explore. During the first part of the game, you’ll be switching locations enough that you won’t get a chance to start farming money. However, after a few hours of playing you’ll arrive at your first Gold farming location, Gormott Province.
Gormott Province is an excellent location to start raking in the Gold you need to finance weapons, upgrades, and other useful items. The city of Torigoth has a ton of shops that provide everything you need for the first few chapters of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. To start building your nest egg, you need to follow a few rules though:
- Don’t Sell Anything Yet
- Don’t Buy Anything Except for Weapon Modification Chips
- Don’t Bond Any Common Core Crystals to Make New Blades
Your objective when you get to Torigoth if you want to start building a fortune is to get around 20,000 Gold. With this much money, you can start investing in items that will, in turn, make you more Gold. To get your first 20,000 in cash, you need to explore and fight your way around the Upper Level – Right area of Gormott Province. You should find enough caches of money in treasure chests and get enough Gold from battling beasts that by the time you thoroughly explore this area, you’ll have over 20,000 Gold.
How to Farm Money in Xenoblade Chronicles 2
There’s a reason for the rules in the section above. If you really want to farm cash, you’re going to need sets of items, so don’t sell anything, even if it seems useless. Near the Torigoth Arch, you’ll find the market. You’ll want to locate a vendor labeled Maschnach Exchange – Llin. There’s an exchange in nearly every settlement, and even though they’re a shop, you can’t buy anything from them.
Exchanges in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 offer bounties for sets of items. The reason I said to hold onto everything above is because the bounty you get for each set of items always exceeds how much money you’d get from selling them individually. In addition to getting cash for these sets, turning some of them will also get you some rare and powerful items.
Completing the sets you need for the exchange isn’t always easy. Some enemies will drop the items you need, but you’ll also need to make salvaging part of your routine as well. Right next to Masnache Exchange is a shop where you can get salvaging supplies. Use some of your initial bankroll to purchase around 10 Normal Cylinders. Since you’ve explored a big chunk of Gormott Province, you should know the location of a few salvaging spots.

Head to some of the salvaging spots you’ve discovered and dive for items. You need to get good at the button prompts that occur when you jump for salvage, so make sure to get some practice on doing that with Normal Cylinders before you waste any Silver or better Cylinders.
If everything goes well, you should start pulling items from salvaging that Llin has on their lists in the Exchange. If you’re not able to complete a list though, you can always come back to Torigoth. Also, other settlements you go to will have unique listings posted to fulfill at their Exchanges, so make sure you hold onto those useless seeming items because they may be worth a lot down the line. If for some reason you start dwindling in funds, use some Common Core Crystals for some extra Gold. You can use Rare Core Crystals to bond Blades and keep the Common ones as a backup source of funding.
Fulfilling Exchange requests is one of the most effective ways of making money in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. If you want to farm Gold quick, it’s the best way to do it.
