Overwatch League Skins Guide: How to Get the Overwatch League Skins

Update: The Overwatch League skins are available right now! Go to the home menu, navigate to the league tab, select your team, and then select your favorite player to purchase that skin for them. Have fun!

Original Guide: Blizzard took a huge esports initiative when it started the Overwatch League dedicated to actual sponsored teams battling it out week-to-week like in other sports. With the creation of the league, it only makes sense that you would be able to skin your favorite character in the game to represent your favorite team in the league, and that’s exactly what you can do.

Blizzard is giving away one free Overwatch League skin to every player so that you don’t have to spend a dime on your number one team in the league. If you are interested in joining an Overwatch Fantasy League, check out this post for more info. Just recently, the option appeared in the menus to purchase the League skin, but it might not be working for you. Let’s dig into why.

How to Get the Overwatch League Skins

To get the Overwatch League skins, it’s pretty simple. Many of you have probably already seen the option to purchase them in the menus and that’s exactly where to buy them. Unfortunately, it’s not working because you can’t buy them just yet. Though the league has technically already started, you aren’t able to get the skins until next week.

How to Get Overwatch League Skins

This is because the league has been only participating in the pre-season so far. It began in early December as a type of warm-up for the inaugural season of the Overwatch League that begins next week. Blizzard has apparently decided to implement the purchase buttons in anticipation of when it does actually start.

However, you will be able to get Overwatch League skins exactly a week from the time of this publishing on January 10th, 2018. This is because that’s the same day that the league officially kicks off with its first round of matches. On that same day, you will be able to get one league skin for absolutely free. Blizzard will grant each player with enough currency to purchase one skin of your favorite team in the league. You just have to wait patiently for one more week.
