State of Decay 2 Split-Screen Local Co-Op

State of Decay 2 Local Co-Op and Online Multiplayer: Is There Split-Screen and How Many Players Can Play?

State of Decay 2 has a significant new feature that the original lacked: multiplayer. For those of you wanting to fight zombies with friends, you’ll want to know if there is split-screen co-op, and how many players can play online. Well, we’ve put together all the info you need about State of Decay 2 co-op, whether there’s split-screen, and exactly how many friends can join you in the world of the undead.

Is There Local Split-Screen Co-Op in State of Decay 2?

Playing co-op with friends was something a lot of players thought the first State of Decay was lacking. Well, Undead Labs has remedied that and State of Decay 2 co-op is a thing. Given how the game is set up, it seems to be perfect for vegging out on the couch and scavenging for items with a buddy. In fact, since you have multiple survivors available at your home base, there wouldn’t even be a problem with them having to make a character.

Unfortunately, couch co-op isn’t available in State of Decay 2, so there’s no split-screen multiplayer to be had. Unfortunately, this is yet another title that forgoes and local multiplayer options in favor of concentrating on the online portion of the game.

How Many Players Does State of Decay 2 Online Co-Op Support?

State of Decay 2 co-op online supports up to four players. However, one player will get significantly more freedom than the others. The host player gets to pick all the quests, and the other three players will be stuck to them like a rubber band. The host can roam freely, but other co-op players will warp back to the host if they stray too far.

When in a host’s game your objective is mainly to help them build their resources and accomplish goals. The only thing that you can bring back to your community is any influence you get and any items you squirrel away in your inventory or storage locker. You won’t be able to bring back any of the rucksack resources like fuel and materials, which is unfortunate because you’ll find a ton of them with four players working together.
