Woojer Vest 4 and Strap 4 Review

Woojer Vest 4 & Strap 4 Review

Woojer is back with the Vest 4 and Strap 4, promising upgrades to the haptics, longer battery life, and more. For gamers looking to elevate their immersion and feel the literal force feedback from action titles, Woojer has been easy to recommend in the past. Are the company’s fourth iterations of the Vest and Strap still worth your attention? Here is my review.

Woojer Vest 4 review

Looking first at the Woojer Vest 4, the company’s flagship product is the go-to for those looking for no-compromises feedback. The fourth version offers a less bulky design and can be adjusted to a wider range of sizes, making it more accessible. Like previous versions, it’s comfortable to the point where you forget you’re wearing it, apart from the obvious feedback it fires out.

Comparing the Vest 3 to the Vest 4, the haptics are quite similar in power, though the fourth version is perhaps a little “tighter.” This is most apparent in shooting games when firing an automatic weapon. While I would still call this an upgrade, it’s relatively minor. If you’re happy with the Vest 3’s haptics, then I wouldn’t rush to buy the Vest 4.

With that said, the battery life of the Vest 4 may be worth upgrading for. I found myself charging the Vest 4 every three days, with around 2-3 hours of use each evening. That’s a solid amount of longevity.

Despite the wireless connection, the Vest 4’s reduced latency helps minimize delays between in-game actions and the resulting haptics. It’s surprisingly responsive, which is so important for a peripheral designed to enhance immersion. The last thing you need is for it to be jarringly laggy and rip you out of your games.

In terms of downsides, I should highlight how the Vest 4 can sometimes get quite warm. I’ve noticed this when wearing thinner clothing. It’s by no means a deal-breaker, but it’s definitely worth noting.

Woojer Strap 4 review

The Woojer Strap 4 takes the Vest 4’s immersive haptics and condenses it down into a lighter, more portable, and frankly cheaper solution. Obviously, the experience is going to be somewhat watered down, but it’s actually more powerful than you might expect.

If the Vest 4 is the more hardcore, all-in solution, the Strap 4 is the more casual, flexible option. It can be positioned in a few different ways, and it’s well worth playing around with placement.

While it works well with games, which is its primary aim, I’m actually a big fan of using the Strap 4 with bass-heavy music.

Battery life is similar to the Vest 4, so around 8-9 hours with strong haptics, which is pretty great.

The Strap 4 is extremely comfortable to use and there are no heat issues here. It remains cool to the touch, even after lengthy sessions where I went from listening to music while working, to then playing games after work.

Final Verdict

At $349 for the Vest 4 — this is a notable reduction in RRP from the previous version’s $499 — and $129 for the Strap 4, Woojer has released two excellent peripherals that help enhance immersion in a significant way. While it’s easy to label these product types as “gimmicks,” I feel Woojer has pushed beyond that and should be taken seriously. The Vest 4 is a big win in my book and the Strap 4 is surprisingly compelling considering its size.
