Jurassic World Evolution Update 1.4 Patch Notes: Challenge Mode Details

Frontier Developments has revealed all the big important changes coming to Jurassic World Evolution in the next patch for the game, which is due September 13. We don’t have the full Jurassic World Evolution Update 1.4 patch notes but we’ve certainly got everything important, including details on the new Challenge Mode, new Sandbox Mode options, and dinosaur size changes. Let’s go through the biggest changes.

Jurassic World Evolution Update 1.4 Patch Notes: Challenge Mode

The new Challenge Mode is a brand new mode that plays separately from the story campaign. It’s set on Isla Nublar, the main island from the movies (which had a volcanic eruption in recent Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), which in the main game is only the sandbox island. Players choose a difficulty (easy, medium, hard, and Jurassic) then start with very minimal cash, then have to manage their park carefully to survive. New problems include Hammond Foundation fees and contract cancellation penalties. New skins can be unlocked by beating Challenge, with a special skin available just for beating it on the hardest “Jurassic” difficulty setting.

Jurassic World Evolution Update 1.4 Patch Notes: New Sandbox Options

Returning to Isla Nublar in Sandbox Mode, update 1.4 adds a host of new player options to mess about with. These include a lifespan toggle so dinosaurs don’t have to die of old age, a cash level toggle so you decide how much money you start with, more difficulty settings, a power toggle so power isn’t a requirement, and perhaps most importantly, a feeder resupply toggle. You have to manually order rangers to resupply feeders in the main game, so it will be a relief to turn it off.

Jurassic World Evolution Update 1.4 Patch Notes: Dinosaur Size Changes

The changes to some dinosaur sizes was revealed earlier this month, as it was highly requested from the Jurassic World Evolution community. In short, some major carnivores (including the T-Rex) are having their sizes altered to make them more in line with either the movies or real life. Here they are in full:

  • Scale down the Ceratosaurus from 9.6m (current) to 9m
  • Scale down the Tyrannosaurus Rex from 14m (current) to 13.5m
  • Scale up the Spinosaurus from 13.7m (current) to 15m (making her taller but less bulky than the T-Rex)
  • Scale up the Giganotosaurus from 12m (current) to 13.5m

In other words, the T-Rex is getting shrunk and the Spinosaurus will now be the tallest carnivore in the game. Poor Rexy.
