WoW Pirates Day Guide: When Pirates Day Starts and the Captain’s Booty Achievement

For those who just can’t get enough of the seafaring adventures of World of Warcraft‘s latest expansion, Battle for Azeroth, you’re in luck — WoW Pirates Day is coming to a realm near you sooner than you can blink. This yearly event will net you a chance at some cool buffs, transmogs, and other necessary achievements for you to enjoy. Our WoW Pirates Day guide will give you all the information that you need.

WoW Pirates Day Guide — When Does Pirates Day Start

Pirates Day starts on September 19 at 10:00 a.m realm time, and it kicks off exactly 24 hours worth of pirate-themed goodness. For those who don’t have their noses buried in Azerothian lore, you may already know that this fateful day also coincides with International Talk Like a Pirate Day. That’s right, you’ve got an excuse to be doubly festive!

If you’re unsure where to pick up the festivities, then we have the fairly obvious answer. For all lovers of the booty of the high seas, Booty Bay is your one and only destination for this buccaneering bacchanalia. Make sure that you hit up Dread Captain DeMeza once you’ve landed on the Bay’s scenic shores to get the party started.

WoW Pirates Day Guide — Treasure and the Captain’s Booty Achievement

Pirates Day is a delight for the senses, but a cautious swashbuckler susses out any potential treasure before committing outright piracy. At least, they should. We’ve got a rundown of the sort of things you can expect to receive just for participating in the event:

  • The Dread Corsair buff: your obligatory seafaring digs (even works on feral Druids in their natural habitat)
  • A Big Bag of Booty: ever wanted to throw coins at your guildmates like some sort of eccentric emperor? This is how you do it.
  • Jolly Roger: a miniature replica of the Dread Captain’s ship.
  • Petey: a very loud and very perky pet.
  • Emergency Pirate Outfit: for any other occasion that has you missing a life of crime on the high seas.

Last but not least, there’s the Captain’s Booty achievement which you can only get on Pirates Day. You get this by sharing a drink with Captain DeMeza and slipping into some sweet Dread Corsair digs. It’s easy to get if you participate in the event but you only have a small window to do it, so it’s easy to miss. There are plenty of other cool NPCs to hang out with, including those based on the brains behind the real world Talk Like a Pirate Day, but DeMeza is the person you want to go shot for shot with if you’re an achievement hunter.

Our guide to WoW Pirates Day should be a good primer to get you ready and raring to go out on the high seas. For those who are taking a swing at the seafaring life for the first time, it may be a bit much to take in but keep your Admiral’s Hat on and everything will be just peachy. We look forward to sharing some grog with you in Booty Bay!
